School has been back for a few weeks now so I got to see a bunch co-workers for the first time after summer break. Most of the feedback has been great, but there are a few offhanded comments like, “How much did you lose? You didn’t really need to lose that much” or “You look so skinny.” The only thing that bothers me is when people say, “What diet did you do? I don’t think you need to diet anymore.” So I launch into the whole, “No, this is not a diet. It’s a lifestyle” and then brag about Tone It Up and how it’s helped my family become healthier.

Vacations and special occasions are usually the major events that tempt me off my healthy eating, but as a “mom in moderation,” I think indulging once in a while is okay. However, I do try to limit my indulgences mostly to these special circumstances not because I’m obsessive compulsive (partly, maybe? lol), but mostly because my body feels so much better when I eat healthy. I can definitely tell a difference in my energy levels on days that I indulged a little too much.

My Tone It Up journey started at the end of June 2011. After my Rotterdam marathon on April 10, 2011 I had to stop running because of an injury. And not running made my body stop functioning properly. It just stopped working. I gained weight and was totally bloated. I was able to workout, but my body was not doing what it was supposed to do. I tried lots of things, but nothing worked.

Searching the internet got me to Tone It Up! I was so inspired to read all these great nutritional facts and see the workouts. I felt the energy, the positivity, and the motivation from you. After much convincing from my lovely Baltimore Tone It Up crew, I’ve decided to send over my transformation pictures. I took my “before” picture in July, just a short five months ago and this was actually a little bit before finding Tone It Up. At this time, I was going to the gym four days a week, but clearly I wasn’t doing something right!

I tried so many different at-home videos and workouts that just didn’t work for me, but I loved the idea that I could take your workouts with me to the gym. I really pushed hard to get my 30 minutes every morning, but I wasn’t sure that anything was really working. Once I finally took my second picture, I was so excited to see progress and I knew that I just needed to keep pushing harder.

Hi everyone! My name is Kate Hendrickson. The plan and team has changed me. Thing is, I’m not sure I can fully explain it. I joined the program as a way to get in shape for a summer vacation, but it turned out that it and the amazing TIU team, really ended up changing my life forever.

I grew up as an athlete. I played almost every sport starting at the age of five. I continued this throughout my childhood, including when I went to college at the University of Miami, where I rose to become not only the President of our women’s lacrosse program, but also the Chairman for all club sports in the entire university! It was amazing. The gym was right next door to where I lived so I could go at any time, plus I was guaranteed at least two hours of practice and games every day. Read more
